Remembrance Sunday

Well here we are again. It is remembrance Sunday. Lefties on Facebook, are going on about how poppy wearing is a glorification of war or an endorsement of wars of aggression. Frankly I find it nauseating. The poppy doesn’t glorify war in the least, it mourns it, whilst retaining a vestige of hope. Hope that is necessary to avoid despair.

Also why is it always lefties who complain about the poppy? I haven’t fully worked that one out. Surely there must be some right wing libertarians out there who deplore poppy wearing, but I’ve never met one. Anyway, yes its a very irritating debate to be entering into today of all days. As Catholics we can pray for the dead. Pray for all those who died so young, especially those robbed of the chance to prepare their souls to meet God.
